As your path winds through golden deserts, towering mountains, and lush oases, you’ll find yourself exploring ancient strongholds like Nizwa Fort, walking through the dramatic canyons of Jebel Shams, and wandering the traditional lanes of Misfat Al Abriyeen. Whether it’s camping under the desert sky, strolling through mountain villages, or relaxing beside natural springs, this tour promises a beautifully curated journey filled with wonder, warmth, and unforgettable memories of the Sultanate of Oman.
Upon arrival at Muscat International Airport, you will pass through immigration and customs before meeting your English-speaking chauffeur just outside the terminal. You will be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and settle in. Today is free for you to acclimate to Oman’s peaceful ambiance and prepare for the exciting journey ahead. Overnight stay at Ramada Encore Muscat or a similar 4-star hotel. (No meals included)
After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a half-day exploration of Muscat’s finest landmarks. Begin your journey at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the most iconic structures in the Gulf region, admired for its stunning architecture, the world’s second-largest handwoven Persian carpet, and a magnificent Swarovski crystal chandelier. Continue to Bait Al Zubair Museum, home to a rich ethnographic collection of Omani weapons, costumes, and artifacts. Drive past the elegant Al Alam Palace, the ceremonial residence of His Majesty, flanked by the 16th-century Portuguese forts of Mirani and Jalali. Conclude the tour with a stroll through the bustling Mutrah Souq, a treasure trove of incense, spices, textiles, and silver. Return to the hotel for the evening. Overnight stay in Muscat. (Breakfast)
After breakfast and check-out, your coastal journey begins. Travel southeast, making your first stop at the Bimmah Sinkhole, a breathtaking natural limestone depression filled with turquoise water. Proceed to Fins Beach for a quick photo opportunity before reaching Wadi Shab, a stunning canyon oasis where you’ll enjoy a short hike through lush terrain with an option to swim in freshwater pools leading to a hidden waterfall inside a cave. Continue your journey to the coastal town of Sur, famous for its shipbuilding yards. In the evening, check into your hotel and later drive to Ras Al Jinz for a guided night walk along the beach in search of nesting green sea turtles – a rare and magical wildlife experience. Return to Sur for overnight stay at Best Western Sur or similar. (Breakfast, Dinner)
After breakfast, return briefly to Sur to observe the traditional dhow-building yards and explore the historic port area. Your journey then takes you inland toward Wadi Bani Khaled, a quintessential Omani wadi known for its lush palms, deep turquoise pools, and towering cliffs. Here, you can enjoy a refreshing swim or a scenic walk through the valley. From here, continue into the heart of the Sharqiyah Sands (Wahiba Sands), where rolling dunes stretch endlessly under the desert sun. Experience an adrenaline-pumping dune drive before watching a glorious desert sunset. Spend the evening at a traditional desert camp, with time to enjoy the serene night sky. Overnight at Sama Al Wasil Camp in a standard chalet. (Breakfast, Dinner)
After breakfast, depart the desert and head west toward the dramatic Al Hajar mountain range. En route, stop in Ibra, one of Oman’s oldest towns, known for its traditional souq and historical buildings. Then ascend to Jabal Akhdar, or the Green Mountain, a region famed for its cool climate, terraced farms, rose gardens, and fruit orchards. Along the way, you’ll discover small mountain villages and ancient irrigation systems known as falaj. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax by the pool or enjoy an evening walk in the crisp mountain air. Overnight stay at Sama Jabal Akhdar. (Breakfast, Dinner)
: After breakfast, descend from Jabal Akhdar and head toward the cultural city of Nizwa. Visit the grand Nizwa Fort, a 17th-century fortress known for its massive circular tower and panoramic views, and then explore the nearby souq – a vibrant marketplace full of silver jewelry, pottery, spices, and textiles. Later, visit Jabrin Castle, a well-preserved palace and one of Oman’s most beautiful forts, famous for its ceiling murals and Islamic calligraphy. Make a brief photo stop at Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by legends and mystique. Finally, continue your ascent into the western Hajar Mountains to reach Jebel Shams – the highest point in Oman – and enjoy a short walk along the edge of Oman’s Grand Canyon. Witness a dramatic sunset before settling into your mountain resort. Overnight at Jebel Shams Resort or similar. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Begin your day with breathtaking views from Jebel Shams, towering over 3,000 meters. After breakfast, enjoy a peaceful morning walk along the rim of Wadi Ghul, often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Arabia. Descend through winding mountain roads to reach Misfat Al Abriyeen, a charming mountainside village known for its mud-brick houses, stone alleyways, and ancient irrigation channels. Then visit Al Hamra, one of the oldest villages in Oman with remarkably preserved architecture and old-world charm. Spend the evening in a traditional guesthouse nestled within the historic surroundings. Overnight at Misfah Old House. (Breakfast, Dinner)
After breakfast and check-out, your return journey to Muscat takes you through the stunning landscapes of Wadi Bani Auf, one of the most scenic mountain routes in the country. Stop at the idyllic village of Bilad Sayt, hidden in the folds of the mountains and surrounded by lush terraces. Continue your descent to the Batinah Plain, where you’ll visit Nakhal Fort, a majestic stronghold perched atop a rocky outcrop. Its high walls and panoramic views make it one of Oman’s most picturesque forts. Before heading back to Muscat, relax at the nearby Nakhal Hot Springs, set in a lush palm-filled wadi. Return to your hotel in Muscat by evening. Overnight at Ramada Encore Muscat. (Breakfast)
After breakfast, check out from your hotel (standard check-out time is 12:00 PM) and transfer to Muscat International Airport for your departure flight. Bid farewell to the Sultanate with memories of a journey filled with heritage, landscapes, and authentic Omani experiences. (Breakfast)
