With the comfort of a 4WD self-drive vehicle, this itinerary gives you the flexibility to explore at your own pace while enjoying pre-arranged accommodations, expert guidance where needed, and round-the-clock support. From mountain hikes and desert sunsets to cultural encounters and coastal wonders, every moment is designed to immerse you in the rich heritage and diverse landscapes of Oman.

Arrive at Muscat International Airport (flight details to be confirmed). Upon arrival, you will be met and assisted by our representative outside the terminal, followed by a transfer to your hotel. Standard check-in time: 14:00 hrs. Overnight stay at Hilton Garden Inn Muscat. Your 4WD vehicle will be delivered either in the evening or the next morning before the start of your journey.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and check out. Begin your journey with a scenic drive to Barkat Al Mauz village, famous for its lush date plantations. Continue uphill to Jabal Akhdar (approx. 2000 meters above sea level), a cool and fertile part of the Al Hajar Mountains, known for its terrace farming, natural springs, and beautiful landscapes. Visit Wadi Bani Habib for a short soft trek through an abandoned village and green farmlands. Afterward, proceed to the historical town of Nizwa and check-in at your hotel. In the evening, explore the impressive Nizwa Fort and stroll through the Nizwa Souq, a perfect place to shop for silver Khanjars and Bedouin jewelry. Overnight stay at Nizwa Heritage Inn.
After breakfast, depart for Jebel Shams, the highest peak in the GCC (approx. 3000m). En route, stop for a photo at Wadi Ghul before meeting your local guide at Al Khitaym village. Enjoy a breathtaking 2-hour Balcony Walk (Trail W6)—an easy yet spectacular trek along the rim of Oman’s Grand Canyon to the abandoned village of As Sab. Later, drive to Misfat Al Abreen, a traditional mountain village surrounded by lush date palms and falaj irrigation channels. Continue to Al Hamra to visit Bait Al Safah, a living museum showcasing the traditional Omani lifestyle. Overnight stay at Nizwa Heritage Inn.
After breakfast, check out and head to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most beautiful wadis, known for its turquoise pools and serene surroundings. A short 500-meter walk takes you to the main pool area. Note: Female swimmers must wear modest attire (shorts and T-shirt) in accordance with local cultural norms. Continue your journey into the heart of the Wahiba Sands, a spectacular desert of rolling red and white dunes. Enjoy thrilling dune driving before checking in to your desert camp. Later, walk to a nearby dune to witness a stunning desert sunset. Overnight stay at Sama Al Wasil Camp.
After breakfast, drive to Sur, once famed for traditional dhow-building. Visit a dhow yard to see these wooden sea vessels being crafted. Proceed to Wadi Shab, where a 30–45 minute walk along palm groves and rocky paths leads you to emerald pools and a hidden waterfall cave (accessible via a short swim). Final stop at the Bimmah Sinkhole, a striking natural crater filled with clear turquoise water. Late afternoon, drive to Muscat International Airport. Your self-drive vehicle will be collected upon arrival at the airport. End of Tour

All quoted rates include applicable taxes and 5% VAT. Hotel accommodations and travel services are subject to availability at the time of confirmation. Exotic Journeys acts solely as a booking agent and cannot be held liable for any unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, such as delays, accidents, or force majeure events. For self-drive bookings, vehicle delivery and pickup are available only within Muscat. The rental includes unlimited mileage. A valid credit card in the driver’s name is required for a security deposit; rentals cannot be issued without it. In the event of any vehicle damage, a police report is mandatory—failure to provide one will result in full liability for repair costs. Vehicles must be returned with a full tank of fuel to avoid additional charges, and a cleaning fee will be applied if the vehicle is returned in excessively dirty condition.
During this 4-night journey through Oman, guests will enjoy comfortable and culturally immersive accommodations. On Day 1, you will stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Muscat in a Standard Room with breakfast included. On Days 2 and 3, accommodations will be at the Nizwa Heritage Inn, offering a traditional Omani experience in a Standard Room with breakfast. On Day 4, guests will spend the night under the stars at Sama Al Wasil Camp in Wahiba Sands, staying in a Chalet with both breakfast and dinner included.
The package cost is based on the number of travelers sharing the vehicle and accommodations. For 1 solo traveler, the total cost is $1,630. For 2 persons, the rate is $798 per person, while 3 persons pay $646 per person, and 4 persons enjoy the best value at $530 per person. A single room supplement of $232 applies for guests requiring separate accommodation.

Cancellations made 21 days or more prior to the arrival date will incur no cancellation charges. However, for cancellations received within 21 days of the scheduled arrival, a 100% cancellation fee will apply. We recommend informing us as early as possible to avoid any charges and to allow for flexible planning.
